  • Gender differentials in food insecurity were reported within and across Arab countries using GWP data.

  • Significant interactions between gender and sociodemographic variables in relation to levels of food insecurity were observed.

  • Food insecure females had lower subjective well-being compared to their male counterparts.

  • Gender-sensitive policies and programs are needed to alleviate food insecurity in the Arab region.
