The Bavarian bioeconomy strategy

Based on the regional location factors, the Bavarian strategy shows the way to a sustainable and ecologically responsible as well as socially just and thus future-proof way of life and economy.

Representatives of agricultural and forestry production, the economy, science and society put forward numerous proposals for the transformation into a bioeconomy. The participatory process included workshops, interviews with experts from, inter alia, trade, communication, consumer protection, nutrition, circular economy and waste management as well as input from the relevant ministries and Bavarian networks and clusters.

Building on this, the Bavarian Bioeconomy Strategy was developed under the leadership of the Bavarian State Ministry for Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy and closely accompanied by the Bavarian Bioeconomy Expert Council and the Interministerial Working Group on Renewable Resources and Bioeconomy.

With fifty measures, an impressive package has been created that will advance the bioeconomy in Bavaria and the transformation of economy and society.  Based on the regional location factors, the Bavarian strategy shows the way to a sustainable and ecologically responsible as well as socially just and thus future-proof way of life and economy. It defines concrete measures to support all actors involved in a bioeconomic transformation - society, administration and politics, agriculture and forestry, companies as well as science and research.
