A new biodiversity financing indicator has been added to the EU Biodiversity Strategy dashboard, one of the two official monitoring tools of the EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030.
The indicator provides aggregate information on biodiversity-related funding in the EU mobilised through EU funds and instruments. It has been designed to monitor the mobilization of funding from various sources to achieve biodiversity objectives in the EU and measures progress towards the €20 billion annual target set in the EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030.
Now, the dashboard shows the progress achieved towards 9 targets out of 16, with a total of 19 indicators.
The EC’s Knowledge Centre for Biodiversity will keep coordinating the identification of relevant indicators and consulting the Monitoring and Assessment sub-group of the EU Biodiversity Platform - the governance body of the EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030 - to complete the EU Biodiversity Strategy dashboard and progressively improving the monitoring of the EU's progress in meeting its biodiversity policy targets.
