This report is primarily based on transposition measures, maritime spatial plans and other information submitted by Member States, information on the European MSP Platform, and other publicly available sources. The analysis in this report covers the period from the adoption of the MSP Directive (Directive 2014/89/EU on maritime spatial planning) on 23 July 2014 to 15 February 2022. Although the Directive entered into force on 17 September 2014 and the transposition deadline was 18 September 2016, Member States had until 31 March 2021 to set up maritime spatial plans.
