I was born in Athens and completed my undergraduate studies in International Relations at the Panteion University in Athens, receiving a degree in European Politics and International Relations (1994). I pursued my graduate studies in the United Kingdom, receiving my M.A. in European Politics from Reading University (1995). Thanks to an IKY (State Scholarship Foundation) grant I completed my Ph.D. studies in International Political Science from the University of Kent at Canterbury (2000).
For the last twenty one years (2002-now) I have been working for the European Commission’s Agency REA & EACEA as an evaluator, chair and vice-chair for EU research projects related to Science Communication, Culture and European Aid. I became a member of the evaluation committee of ELKE (2014-now) evaluating EU projects aiming to enhance the capacity of Small and Medium Size Enterprises and increase the entrepreneurship potential of Women and Youth in Greece. I also evaluated projects for the German NGO FINEP and The Cyprus Research Promotion Foundation.
As a graduate, I have also completed an internship at the European Commission in DG External Relations (RELEX) and for many years (2001-now) I worked as a Development Consultant managing EU development funds for various consulting companies and think tanks, including Planet Ernst&Young, European Profiles, Euroconsultants, Tsatsos Foundation, ELIAMEP & IBF. I have been involved in different projects in different capacities including policy advising and more recently as a project co-ordinator for ELIAMEP I was responsible for mapping a monitoring system for a new model of governance in the Mediterranean for the project "PANORAMED - MED Governance Platform" funded by DG REGGIO.
During my PhD studies I developed and taught European Integration courses as an assistant lecturer at Kent University. After I completed my PhD, I also taught as a visiting lecturer at Panteion University for one semester. Between September 2014 and July 2019 I was a visiting lecturer at the University of Athens, developing and teaching a variety of post graduate courses on European Policies & Institutions, including courses on EU funding (research and development aid funding).
In 2005, I co-founded EUROSCOPE, a small business on creating a sales network for Italian furniture businesses in Greece, Cyprus and the UK. The main aim of the business is to create strong networks and synergies among different actors in the supply chain using innovative methods to enhance the sales capacity of the targeted companies involved. In this capacity, I am responsible for overlooking business development, communications and HR management.
Lately, my research interests in the field of democratic governance and policy making turned my attention to the research of digital democracy and evidence based policy-making.
