New user manual for Knowledge4Policy

Knowledge4Policy has a new user manual. While casual visitors won't see much change, Knowledge4Policy Members will benefit.

While non-Members won't see much change in the public user manual (available from the platform banner, above):

  • logged-in Members will find a complete Members Guide via both the login dropdown in the top banner and their User Menu
  • internal Editors and Contributors will find additional user manual pages within their editorial interface
  • both will find the most relevant help pages available from every "submit content" form.

Technical details

For those interested in the approach taken using the Drupal content management system:

  • We developed one basic content type ("User Manual Page"), with a single custom field: "visibility", a two-level taxonomy.
    • The top level of the taxonomy is used to ensure that different User Manual Pages are presented to one, two or all three audiences: Public, Members and Internal (EC staff)
    • the second level of the taxonomy allows us to group pages into subsets (Basic, Advanced, etc.).
  • And then we used the Paragraph module to create the Help tabs within the Create Content forms. Each Paragraph can be associated with one content types, which places its content in the "Help" tab.
