Centre for Research on Impact Evaluation (CRIE)

The Centre for Research on Impact Evaluation (CRIE) was the precursor of the Competence Centre on Microeconomic Evaluation and is now its integral part. CRIE provides scientific expertise and methodological support for counterfactual impact evaluation (CIE) to both the Commission and EU countries for the evaluation of initiatives funded by instruments such as the European Social Fund.

For carrying out counterfactual impact evaluation, CRIE supports EU Member States through:

  •     organising training sessions on impact evaluation methods;
  •     providing tailor-made advice on methodological and data issues that arise in the process of designing, implementing and evaluating an initiative;
  •     performing quantitative analysis for a CIE.

CRIE is committed to building bridges between EU policy-makers and the scientific community.
