Supporting policy with scientific evidence

I am an Associate Professor at the Institute of Public Administration at Leiden University. My research focuses on the role of experts and expertise in bureaucracies and public policy-making, both at the national and European levels. I am particularly interested in the organization of science-for-policy arrangements in public organizations and the influence of expert advice in policy-making.

At Leiden University, I co-direct the ‘Power of Evidence’ Research Programme and the international research project “INFLUEX: The influence of experts on public policy”. I recently published a book on 'Expertise, Policy-making and Democracy' (with C. Holst and A. Molander, Routledge, 2022).
