Experienced lawyer with a scientific and legal background, working on the intersection of science and environmental law.
I am currently a Government of Ireland postdoctoral researcher in the School of Law, University College Cork, Ireland, investigating the intersection of scientific evidence and the formulation of EU environmental law.
Prior to my current role I was a lawyer and legislative draftsperson for the Irish Government, and also worked in private legal practice in the environmental sector.
My background is in both the natural sciences and law, and my work has always crossed over both areas. I am working to develop the connection between both disciplines, and to create a more distinct pathway for the use of evidence in the development of policy and legislation, taking into consideration the legitimacy and effectiveness of legal instruments formulated via different evidentiary bases.
