A person is considered to be pre-obese if he or she has a Body Mass Index (BMI) greater than or equal to 25 but less than 30.
Pre-obesity is sometimes erroneously used interchangeably with overweight. Having overweight could mean either having pre-obesity or obesity. Having pre-obesity means having overweight but not obesity.
