Biodiversity-rich ecosystems are essential for life. They provide food, health and medicines, materials, recreation, wellbeing and much more.
Scientific evidence shows that ecosystem services are deteriorating rapidly and that biodiversity loss has accelerated despite the measures taken at EU and global level. The EU biodiversity strategy for 2030 sets out to put a halt to this, but its success depends on the effective implementation of science-based policies.
