2023 - Machine Learning for Early Warning Systems

This paper explains the collaboration of the World Food Programme (WFP) and esteemed partners, including the University of Oxford, IGAD Climate Prediction and Applications Centre (ICPAC), Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD), European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) and the Ethiopia Meteorological Institute (EMI) with grant support from Google.org. This joint effort harnesses collective expertise in artificial intelligence, weather prediction, early warning systems and emergency response to protect lives and livelihoods in Eastern Africa.
