The Counterfactual Impact Evaluation (CIE) Summer Weeks are recurrent summer events hosted by the Competence Centre on Microeconomic Evaluation at the European Commission's Joint Research Centre (JRC) at the Ispra (VA) IT site.
CIE summer weeks provide an in-depth exploration of CIE methods, and they aim to equip policy officers and researchers with the basic knowledge of causal tools needed to effectively guide impact evaluations of public programs and interventions. They are designed to foster knowledge exchange and promote best practices in public program impact evaluation.
CIE summer weeks are composed of
- CIE training (2 days)
- Workshop (2 days)
You can attent either event or both. If you attend both (i.e. the full CIE summer week) you will receive basic training in the first part, that will help you better understand presentations from leading experts at the workshop (second part).
They are also meant to serve as a platform for networking and collaborative learning.
Goals of CIE Summer Week
The main objectives of the CIE Summer Week are to:
- Enhance participants' understanding of counterfactual impact evaluation techniques.
- Provide practical knowledge on applying CIE methods to evaluate public programs in both developed and developing countries.
- Fostering collaboration between researchers, policymakers, and institutions across Europe and beyond.
