Agroforestry is the term for land-use systems and technologies in which woody perennials (such as trees, shrubs, palms or bamboos) and agricultural crops or animals are deliberately grown on the same parcel of land in some form of spatial and temporal arrangement. By integrating crop/livestock production and tree planting, this practice has the potential to diversify and increase farmers’ production through the provision of food, wood, fibre and medicines, while providing environmental and social benefits, such as enhanced soil fertility, erosion control, water regulation, carbon sequestration, biodiversity and resilience to natural hazards
