Supporting policy with scientific evidence

We mobilise people and resources to create, curate, make sense of and use knowledge to inform policymaking across Europe.

SMCE@EC

In addition to SOCRATES, an internal tool at the EC is the SMCE@EC Knowledge Graph, a comprehensive learning tool and one-stop shop for policymakers seeking to better understand how to apply Social Multi-Criteria Evaluation (SMCE) and the SOCRATES software in EC impact assessments.

Brief me

Based on the Better Regulation Guidelines and Toolbox, the guide visually outlines and simplifies the EC impact assessment (IA) process — from political validation to submission to the Regulatory Scrutiny Board (RSB) — highlighting where and how SMCE and SOCRATES are applied throughout.

Designed for users already familiar with the basics of SMCE and SOCRATES, it offers step-by-step guidance on how to apply these methods and integrate their results into an impact assessment report. The SMCE@EC Knowledge Graph is currently available for EC internal purposes

To learn more or request access as an EC member, please get in touch with the team for further information (please email us at JRC-SOCRATES@ec.europa.eu with a subject mentioning the SMCE@EC Knowledge Graph).
