Julian KEIMER

Policy Analyst,

I first joined the JRC and my current unit, H1 - knowledge for policy concepts and methods, as a trainee in 2019. After a year in DG HOME (Counterterrorism) and DG COMM (Citizens' Dialogues) I re-joined the team working on Evidence Informed Policy Making (EIPM).

I'm interested to improve policymaking by making sure that scientific evidence is taken into account. At the same time, I believe we need to be careful not to fall into a utilitarian trap of assuming a generalised utility function for everyone in all situations. Making good policies means to make policies that realistically can achieve the set goals and setting the right goals. Only if we understand that these are two - at least theoretically - separate questions, we can truly improve the way we govern.

In my free time, I like debating, running, bouldering and dancing the night away. I also build my own furniture.☺
