I am a 3rd year PhD Student, developing and conducting research on science-policy interactions within the framework of the REACH...
I am a biologist and ecotoxicologist by education and currently working on my PhD in Regulatory Ecotoxicology at Stockholm University. I address topics on the interaction between science and policy in the regulation of chemicals, with a focus on the REACH regulation. For example, my research group and I are currently about to publish our investigations on what type of scientific studies were used to restrict substances under REACH. Further, we are about to develop a research project on how the Essential Use Concept could be integrated in the REACH Authorisation procedure as a follow-up investigation to the European Commission's Chemicals Strategy for Sustanability.
With our research we aim to support policy-makers in their decision-making, and to identify policy and research gaps to finally contribute to "better" decision-making and reaching a toxic-free environment, as announced by the European Commission.
I would appreciate to connect to both, policy-makers and scientists of any field to learn about each other's perspectives and experience, and how today's complex challenges of chemicals management can be tackled.
