The European Commission acknowledges the importance of life sciences for competitiveness across sectors, from pharmaceuticals to agriculture, energy, food and feed, as well as their role in driving innovation in biotechnology. To unlock the potential of this key sector, the Commission is developing an EU-level strategy with actions that mobilise public and private capacities and investments across EU Member States and regions. The strategy will work in synergy with existing policies and upcoming initiatives such as the Biotech Act, the update of the bioeconomy strategy, or the preparedness union strategy. It will propose actions for 2025-2029 at EU, national and regional levels to strengthen the life-sciences knowledge base and resulting solutions.
With this call for evidence, the Commission is seeking feedback from the general public and stakeholders providing them with an opportunity to help design the strategy for European life sciences in a collaborative, transparent and inclusive way.
Interested stakeholders, from industries operating in life sciences sectors to associations, research and technology organisations, academia and any other private or public concerned entity, can provide their feedback by 17 April 2025.
