Mortality map: deaths attributable to alcohol consumption in men in EU Member States

Mortality map: deaths per 100 000 attributable to alcohol consumption in men in EU Member States in 2021

Source: data are based on the Global Burden of Disease Study (2021) results https://vizhub.healthdata.org/gbd-results/?params=gbd-api-2021-permalink/e56ca9137d79ef2afb920947b554da35

The data refer to deaths from all causes, for men in all ages. 'High alcohol use' is defined by the GBD as "Alcohol consumption in excess of the region-, age-, sex-, and year-specific theoretical minimum risk exposure level (TMREL)", and ranges for men in EU Member States between 0 and 1.9 g of pure alcohol per day, depending on age and region. More details in the relevant paragraph of the brief. Please note these are summary measures. Differences between countries could be affected by different age structure of populations.
