The ongoing loss of biodiversity endangers the prosperity and sustainability of current and future generations. The structural integration of the 'full value' of ecosystem services in everyday decision making by governments, business and individuals is an important step towards halting biodiversity loss and ecosystem degradation.
On the 14th of October the Ecosystem Services Partnership launched the Ecosystem Services Valuation Database (ESVD), the largest publicly available database and tool with over 4,000 standardized monetary values for all ecosystem services and all biomes on all continents.
The ESVD is a powerful tool which can be used for a wide range of applications to support the integration of ecosystem services in decision-making, including impact assessments of land-use change, risk assessments, and natural capital accounting.
