Calculation of the magnitude of the contribution of each classified input/output to their respective impact categories and aggregation of contributions within each category. This requires a linear multiplication of the inventory data with characterisation factors for each substance and impact category of concern. For example, with respect to the impact category “climate change”, CO2 is chosen as the reference substance and kg CO2-equivalents as the reference unit.
