New outdoor activity

Ispra, JRC. Collab Space will be available.

  • Event | 08 Sep 2026

When thinking of food, we usually think of insects as the undesirable guests: ants in the food baskets or wasps in soda bottles. But what if we were to invite them to participate in a meal – taking this opportunity to learn about their behaviour and discuss coexistence? This is exactly the idea behind this activity - simple, yet powerful because eating and sharing meals are among the most important social rituals. By sharing a meal with insects, the activity aims to bring them into our close circle, normally reserved for friends and family. By challenging the usual perceptions and playing with rituals, the activity can give rise to new experiences and intuitions about our relationships with animals. The point is not to immediately start seeing pollinators as our friends, but to spark discussions about relationships, levels of comfort and coexistence.
