We mobilise people and resources to create, curate, make sense of and use knowledge to inform policymaking across Europe.
Excess inputs of nitrogen and phosphorus from rivers contribute to eutrophication in European seas, with consequences for ecosystem functioning and sustainability. Here we use a pan European numerical ocean circulation and biogeochemistry modelling framework to examine how progressive reductions in riverine nitrogen and phosphorus affect surface nutrients and chlorophyll across major European marine regions.
