Marie CAVITTE

FRS-FNRS postdoc at UCLouvain

I work on the historical evolution of snowfall over the Antarctic Ice Sheet at the Universite catholique de Louvain (UCLouvain) Belgium and am passionate about communicating science to the world!

I am a passionate science communicator. After almost 10 years of sharing science to the general public, I would like to share my knowledge with policymakers, to have an impact on a different level.

My background is in geological sciences and my expertise is on Antarctic climate, particularly long-term climate (glacial-interglacial cycles) and historical climate (past 50 years). During my PhD, I was part of the Beyond EPICA Oldest Ice project and my contribution was to interpret the radar data collected and feed it to models to determine the prospective age of the ice at depth. Since starting my postdoc, my focus shifted to examining the historical snowfall records of the Antarctic Ice Sheet using ice cores, models, and currently radar data.

When I'm not working, you will find me running a lot, or hiking mountains! And taking care of my young son.
