I am a Researcher/Advisor at Deltares, a research institute specializing in water and subsurface. With a background in public administration, my work primarily revolves around the implementation of policies and the societal impact of scientific knowledge.
Throughout my working life I focused on research concerning public administration/governance and the physical system: water management, sediment management, soil(subsidence) and the subsurface and flood risk management. Between 2000 and 2010 I worked at TNO at the Institute of Strategy, Technology and Policy, mainly on subjects of sustainable development. For example as part of the working groups of the SedNet network focussing on risk perception and stakeholder management concerning sediment management.
While working at Deltares (from 2010) societal impact of knowledge has always been an import theme in my work. This also meant working on numerous projects which had transdisciplinary nature: close cooperation between natural science and social science disciplines and practice/policy.
