Togo has achieved a perfect score of 10 in the 2021 Biennial Review of CAADP for women's participation in agriculture. The country has implemented legal frameworks, policies, and interventions to empower women and improve opportunities in agri-food systems. Togo is also performing better than the African average on the OECD's Social Institutions & Gender Index. The country has increased women entrepreneurs and business owners and has appointed women to key positions in national and local political processes. However, women still face socio-cultural constraints, such as child marriage, lack of education, and limited access to healthcare and social services, hindering their full participation in food systems.
Learn how the government’s commitment to women’s economic empowerment in line with its Roadmap 2025 has triggered the design of a conducive enabling environment. Notable are the country’s milestones in women's economic inclusion, such as increasing the proportion of women entrepreneurs and business owners and participating in political processes.
