This report on the Italian biotech industry, drafted thanks to the consolidated collaboration between Assobiotec (Italian Association for the Development of Biotechnology, part of Federchimica) and ENEA (National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development), has been published in July 2021. The analysis offers an update on the current Italian biotech industry in 2020.
The report is based on the information observed and provided by companies operating in the sector at the end of 2020, their 2019 financial statements, which have been registered in 2020, other public data and data from the National Statistical System.
The data, collected within the framework of the National Statistical Programme, will feed into the key biotechnology indicators produced by the OECD - Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, whose methodology is adopted in this study.
The report presents also a survey on the pandemic impact on the biotech industry.
