Horizon Europe, the ninth European Research and Innovation Framework programme (2021-2027), is one of the key instruments of the Union to steer and accelerate Europe’s recovery, preparedness and resilience. This first Horizon Europe strategic plan defines the strategic orientations for research and innovation investments over the period 2021-2024 and acts as a compass to stay on course with the political priorities of the Commission with a focus on a climate-neutral and green Europe, fit for the digital age, where the economy works for the people. Efforts should be multiplied at international level. The integrated approach to systemic transitions will reinforce the EU’s efforts in promoting multilateralism and dialogue on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
