Highlights:
The Sahel is home to one of the fastest growing humanitarian crises globally. Around 10.5 million children are in need of immediate humanitarian assistance and protection services. The surge in armed violence and the volatile security across West Africa’s three Central Sahel countries (Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger) – with spillover effects to neighbouring countries – is having a devastating impact on children’s survival, education, protection and development.
“Escalating crisis in the Central Sahel: Advocating for children's rights” looks at the humanitarian situation in the region, the spillover to coastal countries, and proposes concrete recommendations to ensure affected children can enjoy their rights.
