Abstract:
How does the European Commission detect, analyse, and tackle climate change disinformation? The session will (a) outline the types of disinformation narratives with examples on COP27 linking to publications by fact-checking organisations, (b) present experimental data on the costs and benefits of engaging in debunking and prebunking, and (c) highlight lessons learned from understanding disinformation and how meaningful and ethical communications can be a solution for long-term trust-building.
