Complete energy balances - annual data

Data on energy statistics - supply, transformation and consumption by energy indicator (e.g. gross electricity generation, gross heat production, imports, exports, consumption, etc.) and by fuel type (fossil and renewable), expressed in thousand of tonnes oil equivalent (TOE) and Terajoule (TJ).

Specifically for bioenergy, data on primary production of biofuels are borken down by type of fuel (Biogas, solid, biogasoline, biodiesel, biokerosene…)

Annual data on quantities for crude oil, oil products, natural gas and manufactures gases, electricity and derived heat, solid fossil fuels, renewables and wastes covering the full spectrum of the energy sector from supply through transformation to final energy consumption by sector and fuel type.

Also, annual imports and exports data of various energy carriers by country of origin and destination, as well as infrastructure information. Annual data collection cover in principle the EU Member States, EFTA, EU candidate countries, and potential candidate countries. Time series starts mostly in year 1990. All data are presented in the form of energy balances.

Data are obtained from the National Administrations competent for energy statistics. . Data collection is based on a pre-filled joint annual energy questionnaires sent to countries. This sending of emails is usually performed by the International Energy Agency. Countries provide new data for the latest reference year and possible revisions for historical time periods. Subsequent validation issues might results in changes in data. All data transfers to Eurostat has to come via Single Entry Point of data, which is currently implemented as eDAMIS (electronic Data files Administration and Management Information System).
