KCBD’s Ticketing System for policy requests

Restricted to the European Commission

The KCBD, together with the new Science Service for Biodiversity, has designed and put in place an online ticketing system to facilitate the science-policy interface on biodiversity-related matters. This online form is meant to be used by the services of the European Commission to submit requests for scientific support in a policy context. The intended users are, thus, European Commission staff who can access the tool here

Via a user-friendly interface, the requester is able to identify the scope of their request, choose the type of output, upload documents, and identify colleagues to keep in the loop, to name some of the features of the system. Upon acceptance of the request, the KCBD and the Science Service for Biodiversity follow a well-defined process to mobilise experts, develop the response, and ensure feedback and acceptance from the requester. The ethical framework for this work (under development by the Science Service) is focused on its independence, transparency and effective implementation.

This system is primarily designed to facilitate more effective interactions with the Joint Research Centre and the Science Service for Biodiversity (which reaches out the research community at large) to allow for the use of the best available knowledge in policy-making. It also allows to record, filter and prioritize the requests received and further track their progress.

Note that the both the Ticketing System and the Science Service for Biodiversity are still under development. The systems need to be further developed to allow in the future the tracking and publication of requests and outputs.
