Highlights
The cereal season in North Africa was marked by drought until February/March, accompanied by hot temperatures in Morocco and western Algeria. In Morocco, this resulted in irreversible loss of yield potentials, and the yield outlook is well-below the 5 -year average for both wheat and barley. Yield expectations for winter cereals in Algeria have improved since March, but remain below the 5 –year average. Yield forecasts for Tunisia have been revised upward, to above the 5-year average for barley and well above the 5-year average for wheat. Our expectations for the final productions in Libya and Egypt are around average.
