As of October 2022, 117 countries have developed National Pathways, which demonstrates sustained interest and momentum. However, in most countries, pathways still need to be rapidly operationalized in order to support their effective early implementation. For this to happen, with National Convenors in the lead, countries will need to develop multi-year strategies and action plans that clearly map and spell out targets, timeframes, different actors’ roles and responsibilities, means of implementation including investment plans and flagship programs, monitoring and evaluation frameworks, etc. These strategies and plan will also need to be anchored into the countries’ national development/SDGs policies and plans.
The Coordination Hub will support requesting countries, on a demand-basis, in fast-tracking the operationalization and implementation of their Food Systems Transformation National Pathways to ensure that critical transformation catalysts are in place. This includes, inter alia, support for the following activities:
-
Coordination, policy development and governance
-
Financing the implementation of pathways
-
Ensure a multi-sector, multi-stakeholder approach
