The IPBES Assessment Report on The Sustainable Use of Wild Species examines the feasibility of and options for the sustainable use of wild species of algae, animals, fungi and plants on land, in freshwater and in the oceans, by people around the world.
Responding to requests for this evidence by the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), among others, the report is expected to be discussed and approved in the first week of July by the Plenary of Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES), which represents almost 140 Governments seeking to strengthen the science-policy interface for biodiversity and ecosystem services.
