New genomic techniques

This interactive dashboard visualises the data from the report "Current and future market applications of new genomic techniques" (NGTs). For the purposes of this study, NGTs are defined as ‘techniques that are able to alter the genetic material of an organism, developed after the publication of EU Directive 2001/18/EC’.

This study covers NGT applications in agri-food, industrial and medicinal sectors that have resulted in products that are already been marketed, are in a confirmed pre-market development stage or are in R&D stage but showing market potential. The scope includes the application of NGTs in any kind of plant, mushroom, animal, microorganism or human cells.

A database of NGT applications has been created, based on information available online, experts’ consultation and an ad-hoc survey to public and private technology developers.
