The assessment proposes the following systemic levers for the transition toward more sustainable food systems in Sierra Leone:

Formulation and implementation of inclusive food systems policies and programmes focusing on territorial development.

Private sector involvement and investment in agriculture.

Improvement of production environment to increase production, productivity and food diversity.

Implementation of food-based nutrition programmes.

Policy implementation and community engagement on key land use policies to be strengthened.

Transition to sustainable mixed cropping system to be supported.

Capacity for monitoring and enforcement of fisheries regulations to be strengthened.

Increased investment in sustainable aquaculture interventions to complement the availability of fish from artisanal fisheries as a protein source.
