Lene Topp has +15 years of experience in providing capacity building activities for researchers and policymakers with the aim of developing more impactful policies tackling societal challenges. Her work as self-employed is a combination of conducting research, designing and delivering capacity building actions, and facilitation of workshops and networks on building bridges between science, policy and society.
Previously, while working at JRC, she was responsible for developing and overseeing a Science4Policy capacity building programme with:
- 750 JRC researchers completing a 2-day training (classroom or online) course,
- +1000 researchers from around the world completing a 1-hour self-paced e-learning course,
- 60 new trainers from across the EU completing a 4-day training-of-trainers programme,
- Mapping of the collective set of Science4Policy competences required for researchers/research organisations to achieve policy impact,
- Developing the Smart4Policy online self-reflection tool, which helps policymakers and researchers working at the science-policy interface reflect on their level of competence and provide them with guidance on how to continue improving their competences
