These new indicators are:

In addition, most of the existing in the EU BDS dashboard indicators have been updated and a science-for-policy report of the KCBD "Assessing progress in monitoring and implementing the EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030", based on the dashboard, was published in May 2025.

In terms of future steps, the priority for the following months is to finalize the 2025 update of all existing indicators for which new data is available and add a new indicator “Trends in the uptake of agro-ecological practices” to the EU BDS dashboard.

The EC’s Knowledge Centre for Biodiversity will keep coordinating the identification of relevant indicators and consulting the Monitoring and Assessment sub-group of the EU Biodiversity Platform (EUBP-MA) - the governance body of the EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030 - to complete the EU Biodiversity Strategy dashboard and progressively improving the monitoring of the EU's progress in meeting its biodiversity policy targets.
