KiVa
  • KiVa is a research- and evidence-based antibullying program that has been developed in the University of Turku, Finland, with the funding form the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture. It is being used around the world and its effectiveness has been proven scientifically though several studies.
  • KiVa’s goals is to prevent bullying and tackle the cases of bullying effectively. The preventive actions, such as the KiVa curriculum, are directed at all students and focus on preventing bullying. Student lessons and online games are concrete examples of these kind of actions. The interventive actions in KiVa are targeted specifically to the children and adolescents who have been involved in bullying. The goal is to provide schools and students with solution-focused tools how to put an end to bullying.
  • KiVa Program is meant to function as a tool box for schools. It offers a wide variety of ready-to-use materials for teachers including teachers’ manuals, online games, parents’ guide, information letters for parents, presentation graphics, online surveys for students and staff, video clips, vests, posters, forms to be used in discussions with the bullied student and the child who has bullied, instructions on how to implement the program correctly.
Point Accueil Ecoute Jeunes - Welcome centers for youn people 
  • 'In France, the ‘welcome centres for young people’ provide support to families and young people aged 12- 25 facing specific difficulties (such as problems at school, family conflicts, depression, delinquency, drug abuse, etc.). There are currently more than 100 PAEJ in France which are largely concentrated in urban areas.'
  • 'PAEJ offer guidance and support in a friendly environment to help young people make a new start and can act as a link towards specialised services. Support is free, confidential and anonymous. Support is provided by a multidisciplinary team of psychologists, nurses, social workers and educators. Some PAEJ also develop prevention activities in schools or other structures for young people, for example, presentations or workshops on topics of relevance for youth (e.g. sexuality, drugs, bullying).'

  • In Germany, a ‘coolness training initiative’ is in place to improve life skills using role plays and exercises. It is directed to young people at risk of violent offences and marginalisation and aims at strengthening conflict management skills and improving social competences.

  • Zippy’s friends started is a program, that started in 2015 with the goal to increase the social and emotional skills and the coping strategies of very young children.
  • It offers accredited education to professionals working with children aged 5-11 years (teachers, school psychologists, special education professionals etc), in methodologies that help children develop life skills which are of great importance for mental health.
  • It is led by trained professionals that use interactive ways to teach children express their emotions, communicate with others, find their own solutions in difficult situations and teach them how to ask for help when needed and how to build and maintain good relationships.
  • The program is divided in different modules with topics on: emotions and feelings, communication, conflict (incl. bullying), relationships, dealing with change and loss. Different fables have been created for the various modules.
