Description:
The Green Growth Index measures performance in achieving sustainability targets, including SDGs, Paris Climate Agreement, and Aichi Biodiversity Targets, for four green growth dimensions - efficient and sustainable resource use, natural capital protection, green economic opportunities, and social inclusion.
Its framework, which was developed with over 300 experts worldwide from 2017 to 2019, is applied at the global, regional, and national levels.
The Global Index is published annually in partnership with international organizations since 2019. The Regional Index is developed with regional partners like the OECS, ADB, etc. The National Index is developed in close collaboration with the governments.
Societal impact:
The results from the Global Green Growth Index are embedded in the Country Planning Framework of GGGI Member Countries.
The National Green Growth Index, which GGGI developed with the government partners through a participatory approach, is used by the governments to guide development of National Green Growth Strategies, serve as Policy Framework for the National Development Plans, and identify green project pipelines.
The Global Index results and databases are used in research published in theses and journals.
