For the benefit of the cancer-research community, the JRC has put together a list of cancer projects funded by the EU during the last ten years. For the first time ever, projects from different funding programmes have been assembled into a single, harmonised dataset that can be freely downloaded from the JRC’s Knowledge Centre for Cancer.
The dataset comprises over 3,700 projects with a combined EU contribution of EUR 6.4 billion. The main funding programmes are Horizon 2020, Horizon Europe, EU4Health and Digital Europe, although projects from 19 different EU funding programmes have been included. Each project is accompanied by rich meta data, including ID, acronym, title, objective, keywords, topic, start date and budget. Over 40% of the projects have also been tagged with a cancer type (based on the cancer-type list of the International Cancer Research Partnership).
In compiling and sharing this holistic dataset of EU cancer projects over the past decade, the JRC aims to raise awareness and promote collaboration amongst the cancer-research community. This dataset is part of JRC’s broader effort to foster scientific and technical coordination of EU cancer activities and to inform evidence-based decision-making in support of EU cancer policy goals.
