David Demortain

INRAE Research professor

I am a sociologist and political scientist with INRAE in France, and director of the Laboratoire Interdisciplinaire Sciences Innovations Sociétés (umr-lisis.fr). My research broadly investigates the relationships between knowledge and governance.

I study and have expertise on:
- risk governance and designs for risk-based decision-making
- the making of expert bodies and bureaucracies, and their legitimacy
- institutional arrangements for scientific advice, as well as modes of engagement of scientists in policy
- transnational networks of experts and their modes of influence on international regulatory regimes
- governance by numbers and models
- the construction of regulatory sciences and epistemologies
