Leveraging the nutrition-gender-climate nexus: positive examples of integration

  • Publication | 2025

This brief explores how coordinated action across nutrition, gender equality, and climate resilience can unlock major benefits for people, economies, and food systems. While policymakers increasingly recognize the links between these agendas, investments remain fragmented and rarely address them together—despite enormous potential to improve livelihoods, reduce food insecurity, and strengthen resilience. This brief showcases nine real-world examples from countries including Brazil, Indonesia, Tanzania, Ethiopia, India, and Vietnam. From school feeding programmes and women-led aquaculture to climate-responsive social protection and nutrition interventions, it highlights practical lessons on how integrated approaches can improve nutrition, empower women, and build climate resilience at scale.By drawing lessons from successful programmes and identifying practical tools for policymakers, funders, and practitioners, the brief makes the case for moving from good intentions to scalable action on the nutrition-gender-climate nexus.
