Two new additional indicators have been added to the EU Biodiversity Strategy dashboard, one of the two official monitoring tools of the EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030.
These indicators are:
Natural area connectivity on land
Share of agricultural area under landscape features.
The first indicator tracks progress against target 1, and more specifically on the integration of ecological corridors to build a truly coherent Trans-European Nature Network on land.
The second indicator tracks progress against target 7 regarding the objective of having 10% of agricultural area under high-diversity landscape features.
Now, the dashboard shows the progress achieved towards 9 targets out of 16, with a total of 18 indicators.
The EC’s Knowledge Centre for Biodiversity will keep coordinating the identification of relevant indicators and consulting the Monitoring and Assessment sub-group of the EU Biodiversity Platform - the governance body of the EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030 - to complete the EU Biodiversity Strategy dashboard and progressively improving the monitoring of the EU's progress in meeting its biodiversity policy targets.
