Evidence-based insights on AI, for scientists and policymakers
The Scientific AI Hub provides independent, evidence-based insights from the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC). The Hub brings together research, tools and event information from different scientific teams at the JRC, related to:
The aim of the Hub is to provide wide-ranging information on how AI can be deployed in ways that benefit society. It also specifically supports the Commission’s European Strategy for AI in Science, launched in 2025 to harness the potential of AI technologies in science and support scientists to adopt them for their research. The Hub supports the strategy by monitoring and evaluating AI models and systems for strategic scientific research, on an ongoing basis.
Our approach
We contribute to ethical, trustworthy and innovative uptake of AI by integrating sound and frontier scientific know-how from different disciplines, including:
This inter-disciplinary approach means that we can evaluate AI both as a technology and in terms of its societal, economic and policy implications.
