Navigating Migration Narratives: Research Insights and Strategies for Effective Communication

Clear, rational, and effective communication about migration is more important than ever. However, media and the internet are full of stories that confuse people, misrepresent migrants and polarise society. How do these stories emerge? What brings them to the wider public? What impact do they have? And how to make the debate more rational?

On 13 May, you will get answers at the internal EC workshop: Navigating migration narratives: research insights and strategies for effective communication. The event will bring together researchers, EU policy makers and communication professionals who will address the complexities of migration narratives and the challenges of disinformation around migration.

Experts from JRC, Horizon 2020 projects, European Policy Centre and the European University Institute will share insights on migration-related campaigns and explore how the perception of fairness shapes people’s attitudes towards migrants. The following discussion will focus on practical recommendations for communicators aiming to tackle division, disinformation and manipulation.

The event will help you better understand the trends and will offer concrete tips & tools to design communication strategies on migration. The event will in presence only and is open to staff of the Eu Institutions only.
