Strategic evaluation of the Technology and Innovation Park at University of Pavel Jozef Šafárik

Key objective: To deliver a strategic analysis and recommendations to support the management of the University of Pavel Jozef Šafárik in finalising a strategy for implementation of the Technology and Innovation Park (TIP-UPJŠ) project.

Project summary: The University of Pavel Jozef Šafárik (UPJŠ) is developing a Technology and Innovation Park (TIP-UPJŠ) whose mission is the establishment of a high-quality European centre of applied research with an efficient and supporting environment for business activities in the high-tech industry. The JRC, with the assistance of external experts, will analyse the current strategy and plans for progressing with the implementation of the TIP-UPJŠ project and deliver recommendations to support the management of UPJŠ. The strategic evaluation will focus on the following critical dimensions of the project:

  • Structure, organisational and management framework
  • State Aid and Research infrastructures
  • Technology Transfer activities
  • Synergies with local and international innovation ecosystems

The study also intends to provide the European Commission and local regional authorities with expert insights and independent recommendations about this important infrastructural project in the East of Slovakia.
