Fatih M. Sahin, is originally from Nevşehir and was born in Tarsus in 1963. After finishing Nevşehir High School’s Department of Mathematics, he graduated from Uludağ University’s Department of Business Administration in 1987. In the same year, he started to work in TÜBİTAK Young Scientists Training Group as Assistant Expert and in charge of NATO Science Programs. Meanwhile, he participated in NATO meetings in the field of Science Policy. In 1992, he received a scholarship and completed his Master's Degree in Science and Technology Policy at the Faculty of Engineering of Strathclyde University in the UK. He was the first person that recived academic title in this field, in Turkey. When he returned the country, he suggested METU to establish the TEKPOL.
In 1994, he moved to International Cooperation Dept. and took the duties of EU RTD Cooperation. He produced both cohesion and participation reports on Science and Technology Integration with the European Union at TÜBİTAK, which is the subject of his MSc. thesis. He participated in EU scientific projects in this field and took part in the Management and Program Committees of EU network projects at the regional level. In the context of Science Policy, he has the responsibility in EU, OECD, INTAS and State Planning Organization Commissions. In addition to 30 countries’ cooperation programs, he was the programmer of INCO, EMBO, ESF, APSCO, NAMS&T, ICGEB during his work in International Cooperation Department of TUBITAK.
After participating in the EU's future projects and studies in Oxford and Manchester Universities, he was also one of the experts who started Turkey's Vision 2023 Technology Foresight project. Mr. Sahin was the evaluator of the EU Science and Mobility programmes and Eureka Innovation Programs as well as the Projects, Programs and Awards of Entrepreneurship Foundations in Turkey. Mr. Sahin was the speaker, moderator and organizer of nearly 100 scientific conferences, workshops, info days, ateliers etc.
Mr. Sahin, is currently working as the Principal Chief Expert of TÜBİTAK-TEYDEB (Innovation and Entrepreneurship Support Programs Directorate) since 2009. He has served as the Vice President and Secretary General of TÜBAV (Turkish Science Research Foundation) from 2009 to 2019. He is, at the same time, the General Coordinator of ULUG- International Young Scientists, Entrepreneurs and Mentors Network in which it has 14 thematic science and technology groups, each consisting of 50 people.
In the last 10 years, he has been participating in activities and making presentations regarding scientific collaborations and developments in Central Asian countries, especially Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. Again, at the international level, he has been contributing to close collaborations with Science NGOs and Strategy Centers as well as the Universities and Technoparks.
