The European Commission is currently assessing the feasibility of carrying out the land use/cover area frame statistical survey (LUCAS) in 2027. As a result, this page will be regularly updated with relevant details.
The EU Soil Observatory is currently revising the LUCAS Soil Module so that it fully aligns with the specific needs and quality requirements of the Soil Monitoring and Resilience Directive (SML).
An initial effort has been carried out to define the locations of the 25,000 points in the next LUCAS, where soil samples will be collected.
